Ross Okimoto, MD (Principal investigator)

Ross is a physician-scientist in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology within the Department of Medicine at UCSF. He is broadly interested in understanding how transcriptional dependence leads to cancer progression and metastasis. Ross also maintains an oncology clinic, where he cares for patients with soft-tissue and bone sarcoma.

Nehal Gupta, PhD, M.Pharm (Postdoctoral fellow)

Nehal performed her graduate work at Texas Tech University. She is a pharmacist and cancer biologist interested in modeling metastasis in vivo. Nehal's work is supported by an NCI-designated Cancer Center Support Grant and the Benioff Initiative for Prostate Cancer Research

Ji Won Kim, PhD (Postdoctoral fellow)

Ji Won is a pharmacist and cancer biologist who performed her graduate work at Seoul National University. She is interested in understanding how capicua drives tumor progression and metastasis. Ji Won is the recipient of a prestigious Postdoctoral Fellowship from the National Research Foundation of Korea!

Shigeki Nanjo, MD, PhD (Postdoctoral Fellow)

Shigeki is a postdoctoral fellow from Kanazawa, Japan. He is a physician-scientist who is interested in identifying novel regulators of metastasis. Shigeki is the recipient of the prestigious Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (KAKENHI) career development grant. Co-Mentored by Trever Bivona.

Cuyler Luck (BMS Graduate Student)

Cuyler is a BMS student broadly interested in identifying novel regulators of Capicua expression in normal development and cancer.

Nick Thomas (UCSF Medical Student)

Nick is a medical student at UCSF who is pursuing his MD training with Distinction through a Yearlong Research Fellowship. He is interested in understanding how the CIC-DUX4 fusion oncoprotein regulates transcription in undifferentiated sarcomas.

Eric Lin (Research Specialist)

Eric graduated from UCLA in 2018. He is interested in understanding the role of capicua in human lung cancer. Eric plans to attend graduate school in the near future.

Rovika Ponce (Research Specialist)

Rovika graduated from UCLA in 2018. She is interested in developing new therapies for CIC-DUX4 sarcoma. Rovika plans to study medicine and science in the future.
